About flumpool

The J-Rock quartet flumpool was formed in 2007 by Ryuta Yamamura (Vocal), Kazuki Sakai(Guitar), Genki Amakawa (Bass) and Seiji Ogura (Drums). The group made their debut with the single “Hana ni nare” and it quickly became a hit all over Japan. In the same year, they released their first mini album “Unreal”, which landed number 2 in the ORICON album chart in the release week and contributed to the band becoming Japan’s best-selling new group in 2008. In 2009 – just one year after their debut, flumpool has sold out 2 Budokan shows – a huge success for a new band at the time.

A frequent chart-topper, flumpool has released a number of hits including “Zanzou”, “Kimi Ni Todoke”, “Akashi”, “Hoshi Ni Negaiwo” etc. The band has also appeared in Kohaku Uta Gassen, Japan’s most popular annual music program for 3 consecutive years. While maintaining a high popularity in their own country, flumpool has broaden their exposure in Asia through their first overseas concert in Taiwan in 2013. In the same year, flumpool held their 5th Anniversary Special 2Days Live in Budokkan. They invited the popular rock band Mayday for a duet of “Belief ~Haru Wo Matsukimie~”, which gained wide attention from audiences in Asia.

With a decade’s worth of beloved hits, flumpool has built a crusade of followers and amassed over 100,000 fans in their 8 nationwide tours since their debut, establishing them as one of the most successful bands in Japan. In 2017, the band announced a hiatus after vocalist Ryuta Yamamura was diagnosed with functional vocal disorder.

After a year’s break, flumpool has finally announced their comeback by a surprise live in their hometown Osaka in January 2019. The band is now fully devoted to their 9th Japan tour, vowing to give their best to fans who have been anticipating their return!
