Shawn Mendes is back to break the Internet once more, thanks to his continued work with Calvin Klein and their latest campaign: I Speak My Truth in #MyCalvins.
The singer-songwriter is one of a number of “influential voices of today telling their own stories, in their own words" as part of the campaign, according to a press release from Calvin Klein.
Take a peek at some exclusive behind-the-scenes photos from the photo shoot below (photographed by Mario Sorrenti), along with two videos starring Mendes, directed by Jonas Lindstroem.
In February, Mendes set the Internet on fire when he shared a sampling of photos from his first Calvin Klein campaign. His Instagram post revealing a pair of images from his photo shoot with the company became his most-liked and most-commented-on post ever (a feat it continues to hold, with 8.6 million likes and over 490,000 comments).
Other individuals taking part in the new I Speak My Truth in #MyCalvins campaign: musicians Billie Eilish, Kevin Abstract, Chika and A$AP Rocky; actor-musician Troye Sivan; actors Yoo Ah-In and Noah Centineo; actor-activist Indya Moore; and models Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner. (Watch a mash-up video of all the faces in the campaign at the bottom of this story.)
In Mendes’ 30-second "Shawn Mendes Speaks His Truth" video, the clip opens with a very young Mendes in a home movie and quickly transitions to a shot of the now-20-year-old Mendes walking outside in front of a huge movie screen showing the same clip of him as a youngster. In a voice-over, Mendes -- clad in jeans and a short-sleeved white T-shirt -- says, “I think the real strength is putting yourself out there. Whether that’s in your music or just life in general. I’m vulnerable, and I think that’s a good thing.”
As more clips of the younger Mendes play behind current-day Mendes, the pop star says, “I think the younger version of me would be pretty proud. I speak my truth in my Calvins.”
In another video, titled "Shawn Mendes Is iConicKally CALVIN," the singer-songwriter is captured in nothing but a pair of Calvin Klein boxer briefs, dramatically lit on a stark-white stage and backdrop. The 30-second video ends as “ICONICKALLY” and “CALVIN KLEIN,” flash on screen, accompanied by Mendes’ voice-over of the same words.
