J-pop girl group Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku, aka “Ebichu,” shared the cover art and the short version music video accompanying “Donten” from the group’s upcoming new album MUSiC.

The artwork for the sextet’s fifth studio album features a geometrically designed school building in keeping with the group’s “school” theme - - Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku literally means “Ebisu Private Junior High,” a fictional institution. Sporting cat-eyeliners and red lips, the members flaunt a sharper, more mature look from their previous styles, decked in modish black and white dresses with greenish-blue accents and matching black ankle boots.

“Donten” is also a step away from the group’s usual upbeat numbers, a mellow pop-rock song written by singer-songwriter Kayoko Yoshizawa that depicts disappointment and heartache around the theme of the song’s title meaning “overcast sky.” The animation featuring a girl aspiring to become an idol singer is by up-and-coming illustrator and visual artist Tomoko Oshima.

Ebichu’s “Donten” will be released digitally Jan. 30. The group’s new album MUSiC is set to drop Mar. 13.
