Clockenflap, Hong Kong’s biggest music and arts festival, made its eagerly awaited return to Central Harbourfront on Friday with a spectacular night of live music from an array of world-class acts and hot new talents to kick off the three-day annual event. 


New York indie legends and Friday headliners INTERPOL set the tone for the weekend with an irresistible performance on the Harbourflap Stage, while Taiwanese singer-songwriter anpu, anarchic Australian electro-house outfit PEKING DUK and controversial Hong Kong hip-hop collective THE LOW MAYS were among the night’s other highlights.


Featuring a diverse array of local, regional and international acts for fans to discover, the festival’s opening night also included compelling performances by London post-punk provocateurs SHAME, New York art-punks BODEGA, Brooklyn ambient pop trio CIGARETTES AFTER SEX, genre-splicing US DJ MIJA, tongue-in-cheek UK grime star BIG SHAQ and many more.

Among the highlights for the rest of the weekend are former Talking Heads frontman DAVID BYRNE, former Pulp lead singer and his new band JARVIS COCKER INTRODUCING JARV IS..., live electronic innovator CARIBOU and Grammy-nominated Malian duo AMADOU & MARIAM (all Saturday), plus the queen of neo-soul, ERYKAH BADU, US R&B sensation KHALID, Mercury Prize-winning alt-rock heroes WOLF ALICE, influential drum’n’bass pioneer RONI SIZE and raucous London garage rockers THE VACCINES (all Sunday).
