J-pop singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu released the cover art and part of her track list from her upcoming fourth studio album Japamyu set for release on Sept. 26.
The pop icon’s first studio album in four years will include the single “Sai & Co” from 2016, “Harajuku Iyahoi” and her latest digital single “Kimi No Mikata,” plus a cover of “Koi No Hana” by Capsule, the unit by Kyary’s longtime collaborator Yasutaka Nakata. The set will also include some new, Asian-flavored tracks reflecting the title that combines Japan and Pamyu.
The artwork is by Mistuo Shindo, the veteran visual artist responsible for over a thousand album jackets including many iconic visuals for J-pop artists such as Pizzicato Five, Mr. Children, Cornelius, Southern All Stars, and many more. It’s his first collaboration with Kyary, and notes that he aimed for “a world-class ‘fancy’ and Japanese ‘fantasy’” for the Japamyu artwork.
Kyary will also hit the road in September to support her new album. Tickets to the domestic 19-concert JAPAMYU HALL TOUR 2018: Hoshikuzu No CHERRY MARTINI will go on sale Saturday, Aug. 18.
