Johnny’s boy band Kis-My-Ft2’s “L.O.V.E.” takes the No. 1 spot on this week’s Billboard Japan Hot 100 dated July 9 to 15 with 178,115 copies sold, leading the metrics for physical sales, look-ups, and Twitter mentions this week.

Staying at No. 2 is DA PUMP’s “U.S.A.,” rising 2-1 for downloads and holding on to No. 1 for streaming and video views. The viral comeback hit is also at No. 4 for look-ups, which counts the number of times a CD has been ripped to a computer, and appears to have settled into the cycle that produces lasting hits.

TWICE’s new song “Dance The Night Away” debuts at No. 5 on the Japan Hot 100, racking up points in a balanced way (No. 3 for streaming and Twitter, No. 5 for video, No. 12 for downloads).

Meanwhile, the new animated feature film Mirai of the Future by Mamoru Hosoda, director of such highly acclaimed works as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars and Wolf Children, will be released in domestic theaters on Friday (July 20), and the publicity campaign is currently at its peak.

The opener for this highly anticipated movie is by veteran singer-songwriter Tatsuro Yamashita, called “Mirai no Theme” (“Mirai’s Theme”). The song was released on July 11 and jumps 52-6 on the Japan Hot 100, breaking into the top 10 powered mainly by radio airplay points (No. 1 for two consecutive weeks) and also faring well in physical sales (No. 11) and look-ups (No. 17).

The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and audio streams from Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOK, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, Recochoku provided by Gfk Japan, as well as streaming counts based on lyrics displayed on PetitLyrics.
