Japan’s Billboard Live is producing its first cafe and dining establishment, Billboard Cafe & Dining, which opened to coincide with the grand opening of the new Tokyo Midtown Hibiya building in central Tokyo Thursday (Mar. 29).

Under the concept of “MY TUNE, MY TIME,” Billboard Cafe & Dining offers a welcoming space where great food can be enjoyed along with great music.

Vinyl records line the walls and high quality sound permeates the hall near the entrance. A small pop-up shop is set up in a corner and will be curated in turns by various artists and critics. The inaugural edition is by the Japanese band KIRINJI, and fans can buy CDs and books recommended by each member of the veteran pop collective.

Along with the comfortable cafe and dining space including outdoor terrace seats overlooking the spacious Hibiya Park, four private rooms are available. These rooms are equipped with high-end audio systems - - HARMAN, Technics, BANG & OLFUSEN, and TOA, respectively - - and customers are welcome to use dedicated tablets to select their favorite playlist. An analog record player is installed in the Technics room for those who want to listen to any of the approximately 200 records displayed inside the establishment.

Various live shows including DJ events and talk shows are planned in the future as well. Billboard Cafe & Dining is located on the third floor of Tokyo Midtown Hibiya.
