Despite a recent TMZ report, the Spice Girls are not going on tour -- at least not yet, according to Posh Spice.
Victoria Beckham broke the news to Vogue during a preview of her fall/winter 2018 collection at New York Fashion Week over the weekend, saying, “I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour.”
Rumors of a tour -- or a reunion of any kind -- ramped up when several pictures of the original Spice Girls lineup at Geri Hollowell’s house hit social media. So what were they doing? “We were just bouncing ideas around. Brainstorming,” Beckham explained about the future of the group.
The future looks bright: After the photos hit social media, the group's combined on-demand audio and video streams in the U.S. gained by 18 percent in the week ending Feb. 8, according to Nielsen Music, rising to 2.4 million streams. Plus, the act saw a 201 percent rise in their monitored social activity -- across Facebook, Twitter,Instagram, YouTube, Wikipedia and Tumblr -- according to music analytics company Next Big Sound.
While she’s not up for a reunion tour right now, Beckham didn’t shoot down the possibility of one in the future. “It’s a positive thing,” she said of the idea. “You know, there’s so much bad stuff going on, and the Spice Girls were about fun and celebrating individuality. I think there’s so much that the brand can do, and it’s such a positive message for young kids. What does that look like in the future? It’s not me in a catsuit."
