It’s time for another great interview! We sat down with the tri-lingual and always impressive Phil Lam. In conversation with Billboard Radio China’s Doomkitty, we got the skinny on everything from working in his family’s Chinese restaurant as a kid to how he just got his Hong Kong Permanent Residency. It’s a journey of a thousand steps to get to where Phil is today and we wanted to find out as much about it as we could.
A science major at The University of British Columbia, Phil gave us his philosophy on music (it’s a mix of literature and science), the point where he decided to make one last big push for a music career, and facing his biggest challenges. He grew up as a lone Cantopop lover in his community and never expected to live out his dream of becoming a musician, but as time (and Phil) has shown us, it definitely didn’t play out the way he thought it would.
We’ve got all of the inside details on the singer from the man himself, including what might just be the defining moment of his career. It was just a few years ago now that singer Sammi Cheng chose to sing one of his biggest songs as part of the final performance in a massive concert series she did. We got the low down on how it all went down and how much it’s meant to Phil since that day. We’ve also got some great tracks of his lined up for you, including one of his latest English releases, so click the play button and dive right into Phil Lam.
